This cake is timeless! And the best chocolate cake you’ll ever have! They say it’s even better than the original and I agree! A homemade version of the famous Cracker Barrel restaurant’s Double Chocolate Coca Cola Cake. A copycat that is way better than the real one! A no-fuss chocolate cake with cola that everyone is going crazy about. I have made this many times and I repeatedly get the same reactions from “insanely amazing” to “the best cake I have”! I am a certified chocoholics and this cake is my weakness – pure chocolatey, sort of dense, and kind of fluffy. Serve a slice with some ice cream or whipped cream on top and you are in heaven!

Ingredients

1 cup coca-cola (not diet)

1/2 cup cooking oil

1 stick butter

3 tablespoons cocoa

2 cups sugar

2 cups plain flour

1/2 teaspoon salt

2 eggs

1/2 cup buttermilk

1 teaspoon baking soda

1 teaspoon vanilla

frosting ingredients

1 stick butter

2 1/3 tablespoons cocoa

6 tablespoons cream or milk

1 teaspoon vanilla

3 3/4 cups confectioners sugar

How to Make Double Chocolate Coca Cola Cake

Step 1: Combine the cola, oil, butter, and cocoa in a saucepan. Bring to a boil.

Step 2: Meanwhile, mix the sugar, flour, and salt in a bowl.

Step 3: Then, pour the cola mixture into the flour mixture. Beat until combined.

Step 4: Add in the eggs, buttermilk, baking soda, and vanilla into the mixture. Mix well.

Step 5: Transfer the mixture into a greased and floured 13 x 9-inch baking dish.

Step 6: Place inside the oven and bake at 305 degrees for about 20 to 25 minutes.

Step 7: To make the frosting, combine the butter, cocoa, and milk in a saucepan. Heat until the butter has melted and mix the rest of the ingredients.

Step 8: Once the cake is done, remove from the oven and allow it to cool for a bit before frosting. Enjoy!
